Will I just get antibiotics for a tooth infection, or will you fix it?

A tooth infection will not resolve on its own without treatment. Our dentists may prescribe antibiotics to help combat the infection, but you will also need other treatment.

An infected tooth is quite painful. Root canal treatment in West Allis can eliminate the infection and help relieve the persistent pain you've likely been experiencing.

What to Expect During Root Canal Treatment

During a root canal, our dentists begin by numbing the tooth with a local anesthetic. This immediately relieves your pain and ensures you don't feel anything during the procedure.

Next, they gently remove infected tissue from your tooth, flush the canals, and apply medicated material to eliminate the infection. Then they temporarily seal your tooth to allow it time to heal.

Once healing is complete, you'll return to Urgent Dental Care to strengthen the tooth with a crown or permanent filling, as root canal treatment can weaken the tooth. This ensures that you enjoy the same chewing function you had before your tooth infection.
